Who doesn’t like some form of dancing? Whether it’s professional dancing, going to a club and doing some ‘dance moves’ are jumping around with your children. It’s just great.

Every time most people dance they get happy and excited. Additionally, it’s great exercise that you don’t notice.

Many benefits of dancing are even confirmed by research. Many studies found out that dancing can improve balance, especially in older people. Besides that there can also be benefits in gait, reaction time and walk speed, as well as in cognitive and fine motor performance. 

A study conducted in 2009 even suggested that dancing might help people with Parkinson’s disease.

As I already mentioned in the beginning, people who are dancing usually get in a better mood and studies confirmed this, while recommending to include dancing in the treatment for depressed and anxious people.

If you want to lose weight, you can also start dancing, as you will burn significantly more calories per hour and you won’t even notice it, because dancing is fun.

Besides being good for losing weight, dancing will also improve your heart health as it’s a good form of aerobic exercise. But wait, there’s more. Not only your heart will benefit, but also your bones and joints, since dancing can prevent osteoporosis in your bones and arthritis in your joints. 

When you are learning different dancing steps and routines, you will also improve your memory and mental performance, which will keep your mind young and flexible.

Surprisingly, as newer research found out, does dancing also influence your cholesterol levels, raising HDL (‘good cholesterol’) and lowering LDL (‘bad cholesterol’).

Knowledge base: HDL (high-density lipoprotein) and LDL (low-density lipoprotein) are made up of fat and are found in your body and food. While LDL is called “bad cholesterol” because is clogs arteries, HDL is called “good cholesterol” because it protects you from heart disease. 

Being fun is also a great thing about dancing because it’s more likely that you continue to do something when you enjoy it. There are so many different styles of dancing that I’m sure you will find the one that’s right for you.

Whatever kind of dancing you enjoy and even if it’s just dancing at home to your favorite music, just do it. You will  have a great time and it will make you healthier and happy along the way.
